On December 16th, 2016, The University of Western Australia (UWA) held an early Christmas concert at the front of its infamous Winthrop Hall and The Clock Tower. This show was attended by hundreds of UWA Crawley campus neighbours and City of Perth citizens. Even though I don’t celebrate Christmas, I do enjoy calming and exciting musical performances.
This concert featured various artists from UWA School of Music and neighbourhood communities as well. Besides the mandatory Christmas pieces such as ‘Silent Night’, ‘Joy to the World’, and ‘Jingle All The Way’, they also performed classical and modern songs. It was powerfully opened by a soprano performance covering ‘Stille Nacht’, a German version of ‘Silent Night’. The show went on the brass performance, a relaxing take on instruments by Jam-Jar Percussion, a piano and clarinet solo, and closed by a wonderful community performance that involved the audience.
